Armed SPO shall possess arrest powers and be trained and certified in the use of firearms, to include use of force, police batons, self-protection techniques, patrol procedures, burglary prevention, Basic Training course and any other requirements mandated by SOMB. Special Police Officers also shall meet and maintain a current commission as stipulated in the most recent version of the District of Columbia Municipal Regulations, Title 6A, and the Enhanced Professional Security Amendment of 2006, throughout the contract period.
Duties shall include, but not be limited to:
serving at a fixed post;
making rounds on foot or by motor vehicle;
escorting persons on government-owned and leased property;
screening persons; packages and other items both electronically and physically;
helping District employees and other persons inside the Facility, by answering questions and providing directions.
Security Guards – shall possess a high school education or GED and have two (2) years of experience demonstrating.
The ability to meet and deal successfully with the general public and to read, write and speak the English language fluently;
The ability to read, understands, and apply printed rules, detailed orders, instructions, and training materials;
The ability to maintain poise and self-control under duress.
The ability to construct and write clear, concise, accurate and detailed reports in English.
The ability, skill and knowledge to properly utilize X-Ray Machines, Magnetometers, ―Wands‖ and other Hand-Held electronic detection devices. To detect contraband, weapons and any other illegal, destructive or incendiary device, whether on the person or secreted within packages, bags, cases or other containers that are carried, possessed or under the control of persons entering the Facility to which assigned.
